Wannsee, Berlin January 1942
Twelve men are ordered to attend a meeting called by SS General Heydrich; between them they represent the major organs of power in the Nazi state. With German forces halted before Moscow and US entry into the war there is a new urgency regarding the Jewish Question. In the space of 90 minutes a Final Solution will be formalised and the world changed forever.
Conspiracy is a tense dramatisation of the meeting that sent more than 6 million Jews to the gas chambers in an air of callousness, slight regard and grotesque humour. RFT bring this important and yet seldom produced work to the Scottish stage for the first time. Loring Mandel’s stage adaptation of his Emmy winning screenplay has a relevance that cannot be challenged and a text and tone both shocking and cautionary.
