— WHAT IS TRADITIONAL ADVAITA VEDANTA?
This is the ancient wisdom of the Rsis (Sages) of India which reveals the non-dual reality of Moksa (total freedom), the ultimate goal of all human seeking, as being the very nature of yourself. This is the vision which has been passed down in a Paramapara (Lineage), from teacher to student, from time immemorial.
The format involves listening to the teacher unfold the meaning of Vedanta (the final section of the Vedas) through a systematic unfoldment, in a series of classes. These teachings methodically lead the mind to arrive at a point where it cannot help but see through all assumed superimposed notions to recognise the reality of all that is.
WHO IS THE TEACHER?
Gangaji is a Scots woman who returned here late 2013, after completing a three and a half year Intensive in the Traditional Teaching with her prime teacher in India. Having begun her professional life as a Scots lawyer she went on to study Theology, and then Psychiatry and Religion in New York City. She worked as a Chaplain in Harlem and the Bronx during the early days of HIV/AIDS. She returned to Scotland to coordinate an AIDS Project, the whole time continuing to seek deeper spiritual solutions to the suffering and injustice she encountered. Finally she resorted to India where, after further years searching, she discovered Traditional Vedanta, which she committed herself to study over the course of the next 13 years. Following the completion of the above mentioned course, she has now been teaching here in Edinburgh for the last four years.
WHO IS THE TEACHERS TEACHER?
Sri Swami Dayananda Saraswati was an outstanding Master with the genius to communicate the deeply rooted Vision of Traditional Vedanta, arising from a scholarly study of Sanskrit and the traditional texts, in the language of today. Gangaji was also privileged over the years to study under other Seniour Teachers who had studied with Swamiji.
WHO IS THE TEACHING FOR?
— Anyone and every one with a curiosity and hunger for meaning.
— The Mumuksu (Seeker for more) who may have come to the understanding that there has to be more to life and who is willing to challenge all prior assumptions to explore the very truth of reality.
— Those of any or no religion (While the Vedas have been kept alive in India, the teachings are open to all serious searchers.)
