The breath is everything — think of how often we are encouraged to breathe in a yoga class but how often it can be lost during our day to day lives. In this workshop we will explore breathing practices (Pranayama) to bring into our daily lives to help create balance, focus, energy and calm. There are myriad practices within yoga to create different energetic states and we will explore several of them. Nadine will also help you understand how to self — prescribe pranayama practices for you to carry with you — tools for life for self healing!
Who is this workshop suitable for?
All levels — quite a bit of sitting is required although chairs can be provided and we will take some movement breaks.
What to expect?
The workshop will be begin with some simple chest opening asana to allow us to access the fullest potential of the breath.
Nadine will give a brief talk on the mechanics of Pranayama and we will explore breath patterns to discover the different effects breath patterns and techniques have on the mind and energetics of the body.
We shall then explore various practices, with plenty of emphasis on self observation to discover what the overall effect of each practice feels like. Please feel free to bring a notebook/journal and handouts will be provided.
Nadine strives for you to feel confident to build your own home pranayama practice and to know what breathing practices are useful to use when needed — whether it is sitting at your desk, feeling stressed at home or struggling to get to sleep.
