This workshop is designed to help you release stiffness and tension in your neck and shoulders and find a greater ease of movement.
Not only will you feel the benefit during and after the session but you will be taking home tools that you can easily use, any time, anywhere, to recreate this ease when you need it. You already have everything you need to do this: your body's natural movement.
Neck and shoulders become stiff and tense when we stop moving them as they are designed to move. We either hold them tight ('pull your shoulders back / down!'), get caught in repetitive patterns of posture (screen work!) or we over-use them in actions like twisting or bending. And then add in general life stress! The neck and shoulders get the brunt of it all!
Over the 3 hours we'll consider the structure and design of the shoulders and neck and why we might be experiencing stiffness or tension there. We'll look at how you can increase your mobility and gain stability in your neck and shoulders with practical movement based activities — and how moving them efficiently actually removes tensions and creates a feeling of ease. These sections will be interactive and chatty so that you can really understand the movements as they apply to you, your neck and shoulders.
We'll then take some quiet time, away from the mechanics and conscious thinking of how to move, to let the shoulders and neck relax with the rest of the body in some gentle restorative positions. Before finishing we'll gently refresh your energy so that you can head off to do as you wish with the rest of your Saturday.
