Balfour Building, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, 20A Inverleith Row, Edinburgh, EH3 5LR
To mark 12 months since the beginning of the Edinburgh Shoreline project we are pleased to invite you for a morning of reflection and celebration. Hear about what we've been getting up to across the shoreline during the past year, plus plans for the future. We'll also hear about how other coastal cities have embraced best practice for creating green, sustainable futures.
We will be unveiling two major pieces of work from the project during the event: our 'Community Map' which captures locals' aspirations for the future of their shoreline, as well as our 'Project Documentary', which examines some of the challenges faced here in Edinburgh and the opportunities we have to affect change.
The screening of the project documentary will be followed by a 30 minute discussion with the following:
Dr Larissa Naylor — University of Glasgow, who specialises in climate change, sea level rise and greening 'grey infrastructure' such as sea defences.
Ben Macpherson MSP — Member of Scottish Parliament for Edinburgh North and Leith as well as Minister of Europe, Migration and International Development.
Bill Elliot — Stakeholder Development Manager (Scotland) at Scottish Water.
Paul Lawrence — Director of Place at the City of Edinburgh Council.
As part of the discussion we will have twenty minutes of questions chaired by the Edinbugrh Shoreline Project Manager, Charlotte Johnson. We ask that attendees submit any questions they might have for the panel in advance of the event to [email protected]
Around 4 or 5 of these questions will be put to the panel during the discussion, time permitting. We will then have 10 minutes for questions from the floor.
Please arrive from 10am for a 10.30am start. Drinks and pastries will be served on arrival (glunten free options will be available). Though the event officially ends at 12.45pm, attendees are more than welcome to start for longer in order to browse our community map, photographic exhibition and oral history interviews.
This event is open to anyone who has an interest in the Edinburgh shoreline, either as a community group, as someone who lives or works in the area or visits recreationally.
